Deuddeg

Deuddeg mis, deuddeg sengl, deuddeg artist. Dyma gasgliad o ganeuon pop amgen a melys, a phob un o’r traciau yn ganeuon wedi eu hysgrifennu ar y cyd rhwng Sywel Nyw ac artist arall o Gymru. O arloeswyr pop megis Mark Roberts ac Endaf Emlyn i artistiaid newydd ar flaen y gad gerddorol yng Nghymru megis Gwenno Morgan a Lauren Connelly. Mae Deuddeg yn gasgliad eclectig o senglau, a phan yn dod at ei gilydd yn creu albwm grefftus, sy’n crisialu 2021 i Sywel Nyw. Bu’r albwm ennill gwobr Albwm Cymraeg y Flwyddyn yn yr Eisteddfod yng Ngheredigion 2022. Yn ychwannegol bu Lewys berfformio traciau o’r albwm gyda Cerddorfa BBC Now, a hefyd perfformio yn y Sony Hall New York.

Twelve months, twelve singles, twelve artists. Deuddeg is a collection of alternative and melodious pop songs, all of which are songs co-written by Sywel Nyw and another Welsh artist. From musical pioneers such as Mark Roberts and Endaf Emlyn to emerging artists in the Welsh music scene such as Gwenno Morgan and Lauren Connelly. ‘Deuddeg’ is an eclectic collection of singles, with each artist bringing their own special relationship to Welsh culture and a unique way of expressing themselves through the language. There are soulful dancefloor-fillers such as the effervescent banger ‘Amser Parti’ featuring the powerhouse vocals of Dionne Bennett, with drums curtesy of Kliph Scurlocks (ex-Flaming Lips and Gruff Rhys drummer). The album won the Welsh Album of the Year award at the Eisteddfod in Ceredigion 2022. In addition, Lewys performed tracks from the album with the BBC Now Orchestra, and also performed at the Sony Hall, in New York.
